Older model genie garage door openers use dip switches rather than a smart to program the opener and remote controls.

You will only have a problem if the garage door opener has a yellow learn button.
It is usually located at the back of the opener.
In most cases erasing remotes from the garage door system is accomplished by pressing the learn button until the indicator light stops blinking.
Now press the learn button once.
